Caring for Caregivers Survey Results

An increasing number of working adults are now caring for their parents, with many also caring for their own children, not to mention themselves. Being stretched so thin takes a toll on the caregiver’s health and personal life. Without the right support, caregiving employees are at risk of absenteeism, presenteeism, and even dropping out of the workforce—which is costly in terms of productivity and dollars wasted.

Health Advocate recently surveyed 350 working caregivers to better understand the impact of caregiving as well as how employers and their benefit solution providers can effectively support this growing group. Unsurprisingly, we learned that this unique group is stressed, challenged with balancing caregiving tasks with work and other personal needs. Yet they shared that having support and resources from their employer makes a big difference, not only helping them manage their responsibilities but improve their quality-of-life and well-being.
